Andreanecia’s tireless housing advocacy constantly obstructed by status quo not making (or wanting?) real changes; former Black Panther Party Captain Aaron Dixon’s unfinished struggle for justice challenged over decades of inadequate policies and long standing racism; Ken’s twisting road to recovery from crippling anxiety that his work surroundings exasperated for years; Ronda and Wendy’s dream to run a small business hampered by the very same bureaucracy that’s supposed to help them. Duncan is the burnt-out filmmaker struggling to hold on to what little faith he has left in humanity, and perhaps in himself.
IT WAS JUST BEFORE THE PANDEMIC, We started with ONE PAYCHECK AWAY. Soon we realize it's so much more than just $ ...the walking nightmare we've created in the status quo haunts in such insidious ways, disguised as comforting steps....still we believe we are doing the right things. So we continue....hold on tighter, work harder, unaware and over time, complacent and complicit to the accelerating troubles around us. The echoes "it will never happen to me" fade to the background as the roaring thunder of uncertainties knock louder and louder....but most of us don't hear because we are mesmerized by the fairy tales we make up....
